God’s wish for us humans is that we are fine. The Bible says in 3 John 2:

“My dear, I wish that you are well in all things and that you are healthy, just as your soul is well.”

Health is a theme that has always interested me. When I was young I read some books about healthy lifestyle, healthy eating and so on. Most of all, I was concerned with physical health. It was only in my life crisis that I really became aware that it is not just about the body, but also about the mind and soul. Body, mind and soul form a unity, this is how man was created by God. How I learned from Jesus to think holistically and to pay attention to all three areas in life, I would like to share with you today.

The body: Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit that dwells in you? 1 Corinthians 6:19

God lives in us through the Holy Spirit as soon as we take Jesus into our hearts. That means I want to take care of my body, my temple. To keep my body healthy, I take care of three essential things.

Detoxification- Feeding- Movement

Detoxification: It is good to rid the body of toxins and waste products once or twice a year. I can do this, for example. go through a colon cleansing regimen, consume a lot of fiber and drink a lot of water.

Eating: I can eat a healthy diet, eat natural foods rich in vital substances.

Exercise is good for my body. I feel comfortable when I exercise regularly and exercise. Every movement counts, whether I go for long walks or go to the gym. In addition, enough sleep is very important, take time off to go into silence, not to plan your days too busy.

The soul:The soul from a biblical point of view is our thinking, acting and feeling. To stay mentally healthy, I have to pay particular attention to my thoughts, because my thoughts will influence how I feel and how I act. If I constantly deal with negative thoughts and give them space, I will certainly not feel good. We are flooded daily with negative reports by the media, etc. That is why it is so important to detoxify-nourish-move detoxify the soul: negative thought patterns, lack of thinking, letting go of sacrifice, bringing to God, giving up, forgiving

Nourishing: adopting a grateful attitude, give god praise, express God’s good thoughts about you and your life, feed with the Word of God

Move: develop faith and act accordingly The Spirit. The Spirit is the part of us who died through sin. Through sin, our mind is separated from the mind of God and there is no longer any connection. Jesus was born to pay for our sins, he took on all the guilt of humanity so that every person who believes in him does not have to die, but has eternal life in communion with God.

We can also detoxify-nourish-move our minds Detoxify: No dead religion. God does not ask for religiousness or religious works, he wants a living relationship with us. His grace is a gift that we can accept, we cannot earn it.

“Because by grace you are saved by faith, and not from you: it is God’s gift, not from works, so that no one can boast. Eph 2, 8-9

Nourish: Live in a  relationship with God. Seeking God’s presence, speaking to him in prayer, praising and worshipping him, filling me with his love. That is why I was created to live in this intimate communion with God. I let him guide me, his truths about our life are bigger and stronger than our feelings, circumstances and negative thoughts.

“Because the Word of God is alive and strong and sharper than any double-edged sword and penetrates until it separates soul and spirit, also marrow and leg, and is a judge of the thoughts and senses of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

God speaks to our spirit. Our minds pass this on to our soul and body. • Now the soul comes to rest and in its God-given place. Move: God gave certain gifts to everyone. If we recognize and implement these gifts, we can live our God-given calling. Body-soul-spirit, they form a unity and influence each other. If I neglect my soul and mind, it will also have health effects on my body. In the same way, if my body receives too little exercise, too little sleep or an unhealthy diet, it will get sick and also the soul and the spirit will suffer. We can do these things to stay healthy. We can contribute and do what we can. What we cannot do we give God.
